This is a sample story. Replace it with your family's own adventure in the Editors' room.

The plan was simple: an easy trail, a lake at the top, and a very generous lunch break. The boys heard ‘easy’ and immediately turned it into a race. We heard ‘lunch’ and packed accordingly.

Somewhere after the second bend, our shortcut became the scenic route. There were steep climbs, a spirited discussion about who was holding the map, and the kind of view that makes everyone put their phone away. At least until someone remembers to take a photo.

We finally reached the water with tired legs and a new family rule: whoever suggests the shortcut carries the snacks.

The part we'll remember? Sitting on the shore, skipping stones, and admitting that the wrong turn was probably the best part of the day.
